Following on from the success of the Form & Function seminars in 2007, 2008 will once again see the return of a stimulating range of educational, interactive and industry related seminars brought to you by a selection of leading professionals from organisations such as the National Precast Concrete Association Australia, Think Brick, the Government of Western Australia, Bates Smart and HASSEL.
Form & Function seminars will be held in the Mezzanine room, located in Hall 5 of the exhibition and the entry cost is $25 each. Make sure you book in advance to secure your place at some of the hottest discussions in the industry.

Projects take an incredibly long time to reach completion and as a young practice, it can take years before actual, solid, real world content is produced. As such, to counter this, an impatient practice must take on extra curricular activities alongside its regular architectural practice in order to maintain its energy. Section J and Precast Concrete Ric Butt Presented by: NPCAA (National Precast Concrete Association Australia) The thermal performance of Precast Concrete is important in today's building environment. Butt will talk about the innovative use of precast walling and flooring to satisfy the latest requirements of Section J of the Building Code of Australia. Butt will present the latest information provided by the National Precast in the second edition of the Precast Handbook that’s released in early 2008. This presentation from a very experienced building designer will help to remove the mystery around the thermal performance of our buildings. |

| 4.00pm – 5.00pm | Seminar 16 Competitive Architecture Paul Berkemeier (Paul Berkemeier Architect) Presented by: RAIA (Royal Australian Institute of Architects) Architectural competitions can be an exercise in kite flying, a good way of finding the best design or a source of grief. Paul Berkemeier has entered 20 competitions in about as many years - scoring six wins, a couple of seconds and a few commendations. He will discuss the potentials and pitfalls of competitions - from his experience in small practice. |
